Salone del Mobile

The Salone del Mobile is the global benchmark and mecca for furniture, lighting, kitchen, bath, and office design.  The fair grounds are enormous, so plan well ahead before arriving, and always include a day for the satellite exhibits within the city, especially on via Tortona. They are the best!

Global Water Awards  

The 2014 Clean Water Summit's theme this year is "
Water For Growth", and reflects the importance of water not only for basic human needs, but also for economic expansion, facilitating growth through better operational practices and new technologies. The awards ceremony will recognize the achievements within the international water industry and takes place in beautiful Paris.

The Buckminster Fuller Institute has announced a call for proposals for its annual Fuller Challenge competition. This event is open to anyone who will take a "whole systems" approach at solving the world's most pressing social problems. We triple dare you to step up to this challenge.

Architect R+D Awards  

Submit your entry for this prestigious award. Although the awards are open to architects and designers of all disciplines, commercial products must be available in the USA at the time of entry. The winner will be announced in the July 2014 issue of ARCHITECT magazine.

Billed as an "International Design Festival", this event is dedicated to design (in all its forms), and to art, as a means of communication and promotion of culture, along with local identity in a global vision. This Belgian design competition is a must for anyone seeking international exposure! The challenge? The French luxury goods maker sponsors a product design competition for young designers. 2014's competition theme "Time to Yourself" challenges designers to think about sustainability along with (shall we say) self-indulgence. The awards ceremony takes place in late May in Paris. So, plan your trip now!

This is a neat event sponsored by Design Indaba. Local designers in South Africa are asked to develop viable solutions to revivify any street in Gauteng.
